DAS Engineering is an engineer, consultant, contractor and manager. In other words I am doing business as “DAS Engineering.” I’ve got a BSEE from California Polytechnic State University and an MSEE from Santa Clara University. My specialty is electromagnetic passive circuits in the microwave range, but I also design PLLs as well as analog circuits. During the past few years I was the system architect and microwave designer for point-to-point microwave radio systems and also managed a small R&D team consisting of three engineers with graduate degrees and technicians/assemblers reporting directly to me. Currently, I am freelancing from my home office and teaching an undergraduate microprocessor course in microprocessors for DeVry and offer a wide variety of skill.

Why hire a consultant? Simple, the overhead is lower and many jobs are better suited for a consultant when you consider the cost of managing others on top of a hefty salary. Providing enough work for employees can be a time consuming task as well. If your resources are stretched thin and your company has been putting off projects because of this then perhaps a consultant is exactly what you need. I work from my home office in San Jose, CA and offer a wide skill set. I am also in contact with other consultants (former colleagues) located in Silicon Valley and thus could recommend someone if the project is outside my skill set or if I am too busy – at no charge.

I am primarily an analog design engineer, but have spent the last year augmenting my skill set to include some microprocessor design using C and assembly as well as working with databases and user interfaces (web programming). In particular I have had a lot of fun with javascript and PHP interacting with a database on a WAMP server that I’ve set up for one of my clients.
